Packaging & Casing

ABS Manufactured CasingThe Hi-K Case is a rigid, twin wall composite structure, manufactured from self-coloured Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) plastic. The cavity between the inner and outer walls is filled with inert rigid foam, which not only offers exceptional insulation properties but also bonds the walls together to provide a very tough case.

Designed primarily to meet DEF STAN 81-41 Level J, this family of cases has been in service with the British Armed Forces for over 25 years.

Although there are many standard sizes, Hi-K's are usually designed to house and protect a specific store and are often required to survive severe conditions such as timed immersion, sand blast, vibration and drop.

HI-K CasingFeatures include IP65 seal, built in protection for catches and hinges, ergonomically designed handle, anti-shear (lid to base) and moulded feet, which match recesses in the lid to provide inter-stacking. Zinc plated catches and hinges are supplied as standard.

Unlike most other cases, the Hi-K,s excellent insulation properties transmit external temperature at a slower rate, so when pressure relief valves are required, they operate less frequently and therefore reduce the introduction of humid air.

Available in a Variety of ColoursAll fittings are secured through internal load spreading plates and do not penetrate the inner skin, thus eliminating any possibility of water ingress in this area.

Radiused corners and edges ensure that any impact load is spread and dissipated though out the structure of the case. Additional internal cushioning materials, tailored to suit the packaged equipment, can provide protection for even the most delicate of items.

Additional options are available to further enhance the case, such as pressure relief valves, humidity indicators and stainless steel fittings.Rigid Foam Filled

Primarily produced in NATO Green, black and grey. Other colours to special order.

Hi-K's offer a particularly cost effective solution due to the unique design, which keeps tooling costs for new sizes to a minimum.

Protective liners of various kinds are available; including QED's RFPDI skinned PU foam and machined, fabricated or moulded Polyethylene foam.

Like all products in the range, QED are able to offer a full design and CAD drawing service.

The Double Hi-K is an adaptation of the Hi-K case, offering protection for both transportation and local deployment, to a very high specification.

Made for Extreme ConditionsBoth the inner and outer containers are constructed to the same high standard as the Hi-K.
The inner case, which has a tailored liner for the equipment, provides the standard Hi-K protection for local deployment.

When fitted inside the outer case, it is cushioned to meet the most stringent of specifications for transportation and storage throughout the world.

Exceeding the specification of the standard Hi-K, the case pictured was dropped on all corners and faces and then submerged under 1.2 metres of water for 24 hours without any ingress of water.

If you have vital delicate equipment, such as optics and instrumentation, which must function when deployed after transportation in hostile environments, the Double Hi-K is a serious contender.Internal Cushioning

Toolboxes – Test Equipment Storage

Based on standard QED case designs, these boxes with their dedicated foam liners provide the ideal storage for tools and test equipment of all types.

When internal cushions are cut from contrasting colour foam e.g. black on yellow, missing tools are readily identified.

Bags or pouches can be included to accommodate cables and test leads.

HI-K Casing can Vary in Size to Meet Your NeedsDocument wallets, hinged flaps and instruction labels are also available.

Working with either your drawings or the actual tools, we can produce both small and large numbers on short lead times.
